Isn't it funny, in August, midway through writing a chapter of
Gods and Demons, I got bored. I just sorta sat there, inspirationless and tired, thinking of something - anything - to write.
So I opened up a GDoc, and sat for a while. It started simple, a short descriptive piece with a convert, and then it just fell in place. By the time I wrote a part, the next segment trundled into view. Paragraphs grew to pages, then chapters. It was easy, effortless, and most importantly, fun. In this manner, I ended up with three short pieces sitting on this DeviantArt, mostly ignored and unread- so I decided, having nothing to lose - to post them onto Equestria Daily.
About half a year later, I finally typed the last word. The proof readers and editors having had their fill, and ensured everything was as good as I could make it. Six months of work. One night where I had to tie all loose ends together, and thread it into a wickerwork sculpture.
Did I succeed? Well, that's not my decision, it's that of you guys out there. A lot of people say they don't want success, but that's untrue. A writer writes for one reason...for their work to be read. For someone to take their time out of their day, step into a world they fashion so intimately, and immerse themselves in it. To have someone return out of these worlds, yearning for more and giving nothing but praise, is the feeling the writer loves. And of course, criticism can be like a kid kicking your sandcastle. No matter how much you harden yourself to it, it still cuts you.
And as such, even though I'll never be happy with my finale, I felt it had to be released in the end. Even now, I can look back on
Allegrezza, and pick a hundred flaws. Were I willing, I could sit down, take my time, and rectify most of them. But then, I wouldn't have such an excellent bedrock to gauge my future writings from.
Anyway, I'd like to give a massive thanks to everyone who read, commented, drew, composed, wrote, whined, complained and even recorded. I managed to collect together the majority of the artwork the fic has received over time, but there's certainly more out there.
Y'all have a good night now, I'm off to watch Dr Who fighting the Devial. If you're feeling sad about all this Allegrezza ending business, play this music:

That said, I'm hoping Fleeing Stars ends up going well. Dunno if it's publishing material, though.
Allegrezza was sorta done chapter-by-chapter on the fly. I had only a vague idea of the progression and ultimate destination of it. You can tell by the pacing of it, tbh.
There are side stories smattered around this dA profile, though.
