Allegrezza - Part One+Octavia fidgeted backstage, ensuring her mane was in perfect form, her cello tuned, and that her bow wasn't frayed or missing any strings. Her equipment was perfect, and as she strode out onto the stage, cello in one hoof, bow in the other, she felt pleased that her performance would match her instrument's perfection as well.
Carefully, she set down the cello, resting it by the long spike that protruded from its bottom. She stood on her hind legs, a delicate and graceful synergy as she and her cello used each other for balance. Finally, she raised the bow to the strings, and began to play. The sweet melody of Beethoofen's Sixth filled the hall. It was a grand theatre that she often packed to the rafters, tonight being no exception. Octavia was extraordinarily professional, there were no tears of emotion as she played, not like other ponies she had met, a certain mint-green lyrist sprang to mind on that train of thought. No, she simply played the notes with her trademark poise and preci
For ScienceThe doors parted with a breathy, scraping sound, not unlike that of a sword being unsheathed. They were perfectly sterile, white portals into a perfectly sterile, white room. Nucleus stepped into the lab, urgency propelling her steps, trepidation weighing them down.
She observed her surroundings as she came to a halt in the centre. The laboratory's owner was not known for inefficiency or general lack of organisation, and as such, the entire room was precariously arranged in an example of harmonious order. A table stood in the centre, various implements adorned its surface in perfect size order. A bookshelf contained a fascinating array of hardbacks in a myriad of colours, all assigned their rightful place by way of the Dewey Decimal system.
Even the desk in the corner was perfectly organised. The keyboard was exactly parallel to the desk edge, the mouse sitting in the exact centre of its appropriated mouse pad. The monitor revealed a lucid desktop, uncluttered with icons, a sober image
A Very Merry VinylTavia ChristmasOctavia groaned, her more than comfortable slumber cut off by a trio of light prods to the stomach. She rolled away from her assailant, pinning her pillow tightly to her ears, and groaning further, just to drive home the point that she really did not want to be woken up at that moment.
Sadly, the perpetrator of the poking failed to notice this less than subtle body language indicator, and replied with a more fervent series of prods to more tender areas of Octavia's torso. She rolled back over to face her, now fully awake and even more irritated at how awake she was. Octavia found a pair of exuberant, ruby eyes glimmering from the twilit room. Apparently, Vinyl had no issue with an early rise, for once.
Octavia heaved one, last groan that deferred to a sigh as it dissipated into the air, seeing no relent in Vinyl's fillyish excitement.
"I suppose you want me to get up, then?"
Vinyl nodded in a manner Octavia felt would likely resulting in her head detaching from the neck if it co
For PonykindThe sunlight bore down from above, casting fleeting shadows as the train glided along its track. Gracefully and effortlessly, it hung in the air, streaking forward in a manner no corporeal object should be capable of. Twilight had ensured she left home with her goggles on, the cloud cover today being especially thin, making the sun more overbearing than usual.
Skyscrapers the car passed by reflected the sun across the car's surface like a mirror ball, dazzling anypony disorganised enough to not have brought the proper protection. The leviathans of glass and steel dominated all that Twilight could see, Salt Lick City was certainly a progressive place to live, especially in terms of what was left of Equestria.
Speakers in the ceiling of the car burst into a fit of electromagical noise, with a hint of classical music blended in. A voice rose from the midst of the chaos, cool, sassy, practically exhaling confidence with each word.
"Gooood morning Salt Lick City, you're on air with the mare
A Canterlot HauntingThere is a phenomenon few know about, that graces the Canterlot Performance in the deep hours of night. The baritone performance of travelling stallions would cease, the crowd unleashing the required applause as the performers bow out with all the attempted grace such ponies can have. The murmur of small talk and criticism would simmer to nothingness, and as the cleaners swept through the aisles, cleared away the rubbish and ruin of the night, it would begin.
Many of the younger or newer staff members had ridiculed tales away with an sweeping hoof, having heard too many stories of pranks and hoaxes. The high, floating tone of the cello in the breeze would go unnoticed. Many of the staff had surrendered their efforts to find the very obvious hidden gramophone, while others still found the melody too ethereal for their ears. The midnight cleaning staff refreshed its ranks quite often.
It was as the cleaners shuffled out the door, elder stallions chided by the young ones for their naivety
Heartstrings and Gumdrops: Part OneLyra slammed the copy of Equestria Daily on the desk, nearly unsettling her agent's cup of coffee from its precarious position where it was standing in her warpath. She leafed through the pages, as her agent watched with an abject mixture of fear and nonchalance. Finally, Lyra found the entry, and spun the newspaper towards the agent, who regarded it from underneath a pair of racing shades.
"Look, Heartstrings. I know you're getting all beat up 'bout this review, but let's keep things in perspective, a'right?"
Lyra leaned forward, staring into the face of her employer. She had been finding it so extraordinarily difficult to resist the urge to force a hoof through his face in the week just past. Now his carefree attitude with her career was exactly the sort of treatment she wanted to avoid.
"Perspective?! That's the third one this week! You can't say they're a 'one-off,' or 'some cranky mare who got an uncomfy seat.' These ponies are what get ponies coming to my concerts, you can

"Wind?" Dash licked the back of her forehoof before raising it high above her into the air.
"Good! Clouds?" she called to herself. Looking from atop the cloud where she was perched, she noted the empty sky around her.
"Clear! Cheering section?" The blue pegasus sat up, ears alert as if expecting a round of praise. After a few silent seconds, she looked over the edge of her cloud at the ground below. "I said 'cheering section?'"
Rainbow Dash could just barely make out the yellow and pink blur. Fluttershy, sitting peacefully on the grass far below the blue pegasus' cloud, shot up to attention. "Oh, um,... yay!" she replied, though barely above a whisper.
"Ugh..." Dash placed a hoof over her face. She knew the pegasus below her had the heart, but her voice usually hid it behind meek expressions. Nevertheless, her cheering section was ready. "Check."
The two pegasi were just outside of Ponyville, away from its busy st

Twilight looked around as she walked down the old roads of Ponyville. On occasion she missed the large cityscape of Canterlot . Though Ponyville was indeed nice, with it's own charm, she could not escape that feeling of homesickness, the hustle and bustle of the city, the millions of ponies of all shapes and sizes, the buildings stretching into the clouds. She missed it. And yet, she had never been out of the city before her trip here. Canterlot and Ponyville were the only homes she knew."Perhaps all I need is a change of scenery." She mumbled to herself. "Ponyville is beginning to feel a little small."
The purple unicorn was shaken from her thoughts by a large boom. Something blue hurtled from the sky, leaving a trail of smoke in it's wake. It collided with something in the distan

It was a pleasant and sunny day in Ponyville, perfect weather for the traveling carnival to visit the small town. Ponies of all ages were at the enjoying the many wonders that the fair had to offer. From rides and shows to food and games, everypony present were having fun. And for one particular purple and green dragon, this was true.
Given the day off from Twilight Sparkle, Spike was happily walking around to the different booths, taking in the different aromas of the food, looking at the various shows, or whatever the booth might be showcasing. With a large pretzel in one claw and a string to a pink balloon in the other, the baby dragon was having a wonderful day.
Making is way to an empty area of the fair grounds, Spike found a tree, under which he planned to finish his snack before returning back to the library. "Honestly, Twilight doesn't know what she's missing! This carnival is amazing!" Spike spoke to himself, taking a huge
Twilight sat with her five friends as they chatted about the exciting day they had all experienced. Today was the day that Rarity and Fluttershy had became a couple. This meant that there were now two couples in their circle of friends, Rarity and Fluttershy, and Applejack and Rainbow Dash. The group often joked that Twilight and Pinkie Pie were next, although they vehemently denied it. Well, Twilight denied it, while Pinkie just giggled at the idea. Eventually the night wore on and the ponies had to retreat to their homes. Applejack and Rainbow Dash went back to Sweet Apple Acres, to spend the night with each other, while Rarity and Fluttershy went back to the Carousel Boutique. Twilight and Pinkie Pie parted ways, and were the only ones to go home by themselves. Twilight returned to the library and made her way upstairs to her room. Spike was flat out in his basket, his snores drifting through the silent library. Twilight settled down into her bed, ready to just drift off into a deep
Common Sky - Part 1"Ah'm tellin' you, you're makin' it way too pretty. It's all form and no function."
"Oh, please darling. If she's going to be out there all alone, then the least I can do is make sure she looks fabulous! What if she were to meet some nice fellow along the way, hmm? She'd look dreadful without proper fashionable winter attire."
"Ah don't think it's that kinda trip, sugarcube. She's goin' up int'the mountains, not lookin' to chat up some sophisticated pony in th'big city. She's gonna need lots'a pouches t'carry all 'er stuff, you ain't got a single pouch or even a small pocket on that thing. Where's she gonna fit her telescope or her food?"
"Why, in some one-of-a-kind-designer-saddle-bags I made for her, of course."
It was early evening in the dead of winter, and the dark starry sky overhead gleamed and sparkled above. The winter solstice had just passed, and with the season came less and less sunlight, bringing darkened coldness to the entire land of Equestria. Twilight Sparkle w
Surprise PartyJust one last tree and this row will be done. Applejack lifted her rear legs and gave the apple tree a buck causing apples to fall into the buckets. She smiled as she looked over the orchard of her home, Sweet Apple Acres. There was still much more work to do, and the sun was about to set. 'I best not get myself too far behind,' Applejack thought. She gathered the few stray apples that missed the buckets and loaded the buckets onto the cart.
Those buckets were heavy. It made her mad that her big brother, Big Macintosh, could carry three full buckets on his back, while she could only manage one at a time. 'Not today big brother.' She grunted in exertion and managed to get two buckets on her back. She strained to stand and walked slowly to the cart. She began to slow down due to the weight of the apples, so with gritted teeth she pushed herself harder. 'Come on Applejack, you ain't the most dependable of ponies for nothing.'
Applejack walked around the cart and lowered herself to set dow

A light blue blur with colorful streaks flowing out from behind it fell from the sky. The speed of the fall appeared to be too fast for what was safe, and the form was speeding towards the ground at an alarming rate. Staring at the blurred, falling form, a certain earth pony couldn't help but feel a twinge of pure terror. Even as she watched the rainbow-colored comet streak towards the ground a ways in front of her she could see what was to happen. She knew full well in her heart what was bound to happen, she would be too late, she could never reach that spot in time. She couldn't help but feel the jerk in her stomach as she watched her friend plummet towards the ground in front of her. Time had seemed to slow down, her hooves hit the surface beneath her, propelling her towards the spot where the blur seemed to be about to hit. The blur fell ever closer and closer towards that spot, and her heart was in her throat when she saw contact was made. She had fu

Twilight Sparkle gave a long sigh as she sat peering over a tall stack of books in her library home one day. She was bored. She had absolutely nothing planned and none of her usual books were keeping her attention. To make it even worse, Spike was off to Canterlot for a couple days again, so there wasn't even anyone to talk to. Not very long ago she would have relished the solitude as a chance to get some serious reading done, but after coming to Ponyville and making so many great friends now it just felt kind of lonely.
Still, she was sure she could find at least some book to keep her interested. There just had to be something. If the usual stuff wasn't working, maybe she just needed to look at something different, something she hadn't read before? This was a library after all; there were still a lot of books she had never read on a lot of topics she still didn't know anything about. Moving languidly to her shelves, Twi
Start Spreading the NewsFluttershy was sleeping soundly unaware that she was being watched. It had only been a week since her accident that resulted in her accidentally confessing her feelings to Pinkie while she stood outside Fluttershy's bedroom door. As the first rays of sunlight shone through her window waking her, she stretched and smiled warmly as, for the last seven days, her first sight was the same as when those bandages were removed. On her nightstand was a picture frame, and inside it was the note Pinkie Pie had written telling her that she loved her as well. With a smile on her still sleepy face, "I love you, Pinkie." A small squeak escaped her with what she heard next.
"I love you too, Fluttershy." Pinkie smiled as the yellow pegasus spun around, became tangled within the blanket, and tumbled over the side.
Fluttershy was on her back with her hind legs on the bed and looking up to the ceiling. She smiled softly when Pinkie's head looked over the edge.
"Wow Fluttershy, are you testing new ways to

Twilight watched the little white starlike flowers swirl about in her cup of elderflower tea and sighed.
Rarity put down her own cup and looked at her in sudden concern from across the table. The two of them were sitting at their favourite table at the Dandelion Clock Café and enjoying a little afternoon tea together, but Rarity for some time now had noticed that Twilight, although moody at the best of times, was especially moody today for some reason.
"Darling!" she said. "That's the third time you've sighed in as many minutes! Now I know something is most definitely wrong."
Twilight lifted her face from observing the tea to look at her friend. The white-coated unicorn's eyes were regarding her with concern, but somehow Twilight didn't feel like talking to her.
"Oh Rarity. I'm fine, really," she said, and then straightaway her eyes dropped back down to the tea and its danci

"How dare you claim we are equals when not a single pony in all of Equestria so much as glances upon my night! How can you possibly claim that I'm being too 'demanding' when I receive NOTHING for all of my work and effort in this Queendom! I want my night to be as equally represented as your sun, starting now!" yelled a tall, dark-maned alicorn mare. The walls reverberated with her voice, hurting the ears of the other pony in the chamber with her.
"The Ponies of Equestria are not nocturnal, sister!" replied a pink-maned alicorn of equal size, opposite her sibling. "They work during the day and sleep during the night! What do you expect me to do?!"
"If they're not nocturnal, then why not make at least SOME of them nocturnal?!"
"You honestly expect I have the power to do that? That isn't a reasonable demand and you know it!"

Twilight Sparkle was, as was often the case in the afternoon, intensely focused on reading a book at her desk. Tonight, Dr. Hawk's 'Astrological Anomalies and Astral Artifacts' was the subject of her attentions. With Spike out of town for the week on Canterlot business, she had the entire place to herself. Every single shelf lining the tree house library's walls crammed with condensed knowledge, all for her.
Pausing as her mind snagged on that thought, Twilight frowned. Sometimes she wondered if she was the only pony in Ponyville who actually enjoyed a good book. There was something terribly disappointing and wrong about Spike's absence resulting in predictable solitude.
When she thought about it like that, she almost missed the baby dragon already. Though she loved her friends dearly, none of them were exactly - to use a term they loved to apply to her - "bookworms".
There was a loud thud, the library shaking as something impacted against the outside walls of the library. The resultin
"Good, are you ready?"
Rainbow Dash groaned. "You've asked me that like five times already."
"Okay, okay. I just want to make sure. This spell is interfering with our minds. If you're not relaxed enough or not expecting it "
"And you also explained that the other five times." Dash put a hoof on Twilight's shoulder. She looked the magician in the eyes and gave her an encouraging smile. "I'm ready. Let's do this."
Twilight sighed, trying to calm down. "Alright. It's best if we lie down. We wouldn't want to fall over and wake up in the middle of it."
"Sounds good." Dash stretched her legs and spread herself across the hard wood of the library floor. It was not particularly comfortable, but she had been assured that it would not matter. Twilight did the same next to her. Dash lay on her side, facing Twilight. "So, what should I do?"
Twilight turned to her, a cocky grin across her face. "I thought I'd explained it to you five times already."
"Uhm " Dash pursed her li

A thunderous roaring of hooves and wild cheers shook the ancient stonework and columns of the starlit colosseum. The scene was alive, more alive than it had been in ages, perhaps in all the years and centuries since the first note was ever played in its heart. Everypony who was anypony was there, hollering and stamping with wild abandon as if to outdo each other. Their shouts and adulations were cast back and forth across the grand open space, where a regal figure was making her way towards the lonely player at the center of all the attention. Such was the din and clamor that the young princess of the moon, smiling brilliantly as she stopped and turned to lift a hoof at the audience, found it hard to make herself heard.
"We believe" She stopped and waited a moment, but the riot of cheers continued unabated. Luna smiled at the crowd, then down at the lone unicorn who looked decidedly uncomfortable in her position next t
Rainbow's Best Cheerer"Um, is it ready?" Fluttershy was pacing anxiously around Rarity's sewing room eagerly waiting her surprise for Rainbow Dash to be finished.
The white unicorn could only laugh, "Almost finished. You still have yet to tell me why you need such a gaudy thing."
Fluttershy looked down slightly embarrassed, "well, my cheering is too weak, so I thought if Rainbow Dash could see how much I support her it would make up for it."
"Well, given the thought you put into this, I'm certain she will appreciate it." Rarity continued to sew and then after a few minutes, "there, it is finally finished."
"Yay," Fluttershy hugged Rarity, "thank you very much. I can't wait to show Rainbow." She packed the items into her saddlebags and made her way out of the boutique. On her way out she passed Sweetie Belle, "how are your plans coming along, Sweetie Belle?"
The white unicorn filly looked up from her coloring, "oh, hi Fluttershy. I think the girls and I have run out of ideas for what to do in search for our

When you get what you want, but not what you need,
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep,

When you lose something, that you can't replace,
When you love someone, but it goes to waste,

In an empty field outside of Ponyville, drops of liquid fell out of the sky and hit the ground. The citizens of Ponyville were more than familiar with rain, especially those weather pegasi who created it, but this particular event was different. Ponyville had, of course, experienced strange weather phenomena before, with the chocolate milk raining down from cotton candy clouds during the brief reign of Discord still fresh in everypony's mind, but most ponies had another reason to avoid the falling drops in this field. That is, if they even came across them and paid attention to them at all. For one thing, unlike what most rain was apt to do, t
